Let’s face it. The holiday season is a common time to over-indulge and celebrate a little too much. If last night’s party has got the best of you today, try these edible remedies to relieve your hangover symptoms.
Water, water, and more water
Alcohol is a diuretic, so be sure to replace lost fluids by drinking lots of water. Properly hydrating your body can help alleviate or prevent headaches, and, according to a USDA study, drinking plenty of water can actually elevate your mood.
Beets, carrots, and turmeric
Beets reduce inflammation, detoxify the liver, and lubricate the intestines. Carrots detoxify the body and aid in treating indigestion. Used in ayurvedic medicine for its purifying and balancing properties, turmeric is an anti-inflammatory superfood that supports liver health and detoxification. Green juice with dandelion greens, fennel, spirulina, and wheatgrass
In traditional Chinese medicine, dandelion greens are used to clear heat and toxins from the liver and stomach. Fennel soothes irritable bowels and bloating, plus packs plenty of immunity-supporting Vitamin C. Try our recipe for Dandelion Liver Tonic, below. It’s full of detoxifying dandelion, carrots, and celery.
Avoid alcohol, fried foods, and sugar. Fried foods, alcohol, and sugar can all irritate an already upset stomach and aggravate nausea.

Dandelion Liver Tonic
For the best results, always juice leafy greens between any dense vegetables, such as the celery, carrots, and cucumber here.
4 celery ribs
1-2 cups (1-2 oz / 30-60 g) spinach leaves
2 kale leaves
1/4 bunch dandelion greens
1/4 bunch fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 carrots
1 cucumber
Cut the vegetables as needed into pieces that will fit into the chute of your extraction juicer. Then, following the manufacturer’s instructions, juice all of the ingredients in the order given. Pour into a tall glass.
