Recipe: Urban Remedy Raw Steel Cut Oatmeal

By Neka Pasquale, Founder of Urban Remedy

OatsHave you tried our Raw Steel Cut Oatmeal? Chances are, unless you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and have access to one of our retail stores (or our new Whole Foods or Peet’s locations), you haven’t tried this amazingly delectable, nourishing dish. Protein-rich steel cut oats are soaked in heart-healthy cashew milk, then topped with chia seeds, sunflower seeds, and fresh fruit. It’s a powerful, delicious food for breakfast, dessert, or a snack but, unfortunately, not able to withstand shipping.

Because we can’t send our Raw Steel Cut Oatmeal to you, we’re going to share the recipe so you can make them at home. It’s a simple overnight recipe that you and your family will love!

Raw Steel Cut Oatmeal

2 cups almond or cashew milk (homemade is easy, most delcious, and most nourishing)
1 cup organic steel cut oats
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of Himalayan pink or Maldon salt
seeds – chia, sunflower, etc.
fresh fruit

Mix all ingredients in a glass bowl or mason jar. Stir well and let sit overnight. In the morning, give a good stir and add a bit of stevia for a low-glycemic sweetness, OR raw honey or maple syrup. Scoop into bowls and top with seeds and fruit. Enjoy!

Makes 4 servings
