A Force For Good: Urban Remedy is a Certified B Corp

By Neka Pasquale, Founder of Urban Remedy

Urban Remedy: Better for People and the Planet

When I started Urban Remedy, my vision was to empower people to be vibrantly healthy by making nutrient dense healing food easy and accessible and offering education and lifestyle choices that would be better for people and the planet. Soon there was a little group of us who shared this same passion, and we became a small family of like-minded people. As we grew, we understood how important it was to create a culture that aligned with our strong values. Becoming a certified B Corp was in complete alignment with our mission and vision.

What is a Certified B Corporation?

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.B Corps form a community of leaders and drive a global movement of people using business as a force for good. The values and aspirations of the B Corp community are embedded in the B Corp Declaration of Interdependence.

A Force for Good

At Urban Remedy, we believe business can be a force for good and we strive for the highest standards of social and environmental performance and accountability. Our mission is to re-imagine our food system and teach the world that food is healing. As part of that, we educate customers and community about what they’re eating and the connection between ingredients and health benefits. This approach deepens a person’s overall connection to food and empowers them to be their best.

We choose each ingredient based on their overall health benefits from our salts and oils to our certified organic produce, grains, nuts, and seeds. Every choice we, as a consumer, make affects how big food companies source. For instance, we vote with our dollars every time we choose organic. How we grow our food affects the us and the earth. Organic farming minimizes synthetic pesticides & fertilizers, prioritizes soil health, and is beneficial for water quality and biodiversity. That’s why we choose to work directly with local organic farms to bring you the cleanest, freshest ingredients on the planet. Learn more about our farm partners here.
