Reduce Bloating

eAt Clean = Blissful Belly

6 Foods for a blissful belly

Looking for a few gut-happy foods to feel your best? Bloating is when your abdominal area becomes distended with air or gas. Causes of bloating can be related to food allergies, poor digestion, leaky gut, digestive disorders, candida, and constipation. Stay away from sugar, dairy, beans, lentils, and cruciferous veggies like cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli, if you’re looking to keep bloat down. Here's some good-for-you foods that’ll keep bloating at bay.

Blissful Belly Foods

1. Leafy greens

Spinach, kale, and other deep leafy greens work well to reduce bloating because of their high-water content. They’re also natural diuretics and beneficial to gut health because they provide minerals and vitamins. Our meal plans are brimming with meals and juices full of organic, fresh greens.

2. Tumeric Root

Turmeric is one of our favorite wellness ingredients and arguably one of the most powerful medicinal herbs on the planet. It helps brighten skin, reduces inflammation, and even combats fatigue. Turmeric can also strengthen digestion, support liver detoxification, and lower inflammation. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years as a sattvic herb, which means it has purifying and balancing properties. As a tridoshic herb, it is tonifying and healing for all body types. Reap the benefits of Turmeric in these juices, shots and even from our new Veggie Burger.

3. Cucumber juice

Cucumber juice flushes excess water out of the body via urination. Like a river flowing, it pulls debris on its path, a diuretic flushes toxins and waste via urination, leaving you less bloated and feeling lighter. It’s easy to get your dose of cucumber juice from many of our certified organic cold-pressed juices and shots.

4. Ginger Root

Ginger has long been a go-to ingredient in detox regimens — and is an amazing natural antidote to morning sickness. It stimulates the digestion and aids in transforming and transporting the fluids in the body. We love this ancient wonder and incorporate it throughout our healing foods. Tip from Neka, our founder: “I love drinking a hot ginger tea just before a big meal or sipping on a small cup of it while eating to reduce bloating and support digestion.”

5. Seaweed

Ancient Chinese medicine claims, “There is no swelling that is not relieved by seaweed.” It has been used for thousands of years for its diuretic properties. Enjoy a bit of seaweed from the nori in our Japanese-inspired Umeboshi Salad.

6. Fennel

Fresh fennel is tops when it comes to vegetables that support digestion. Bloating, gas, intestinal cramps, and irritable bowels are all good reasons to eat fennel. We’ve incorporated this superfood into our certified organic cold-pressed juice, Happy Belly with Probiotics.
