Say Goodbye to Acid Reflux

By Rebecca

Are you a victim of acid reflux? Suffer no more! Take a look at these simple yet effective ways we’ve pulled together which can help you, through better nutrition, reduce your acid reflux symptoms for a happier, healthier digestive system.

Kale is rich in nutrition, in sulfur, calcium, iron, and vitamin A, which help support the stomach and heal duodenal ulcers, thereby lowering the stomach’s acid levels. Acid reflux occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) fails to close properly. While eating kale will not aid the LES’s function, the minerals found in kale can decrease the stomach’s acid levels, which can help lower the amount of stomach acid available for escape. At Urban Remedy, we love kale in all of our juice cleanses and salads. For a special crunchy treat, try our kale chips as your next afternoon snack!

Alkaline Diet

For those of us looking for a more drastic change, switching to an alkaline meal plan maybe be the answer. An alkaline diet balances your body’s natural pH levels, neutralizing overly-acidic stomach bile, thereby decreasing your acid reflux.

How to start: Decrease consumption of meat, poultry, grains, fish, milk, cheese, shellfish, and salt. Instead, try adding foods full of nutrition, leafy greens, root veggies, fresh fruit, legumes, and nuts into your daily diet. Our Super Green cleanse is a perfect way to jumpstart this kind of diet change.

Raw Purple Cabbage

Eating raw purple cabbage or drinking raw purple cabbage juice (which you can find in our Pink Lemonade) are two amazing ways to tame your tummy through increased nutrition. Cabbage is a naturally alkalizing food which helps regulate the body’s pH levels. In just 7 days, adding this leafy veggie into your diet can significantly reduce digestive issues, and even shrink ulcers!

Additional Perks? Purple cabbage is rich in sulfur, a premiere mineral for repairing and purifying the blood. Cleaner blood better transports oxygen throughout the body, increasing overall energy. Woo! Purple cabbage also has anti-cancer causing properties. At Urban Remedy, we love purple cabbage in our Shredded Kale Salad.

With nutrition, and healthy ingredients available to diffuse acid reflux symptoms, it is easy to decrease your discomfort and live tummy happy!

  1. Very informative, thank you.

  2. I love kale, but because I now have acid reflux, I have had to stop eating it. Kale leads to bloating in my case, which only worsens my reflux. Same issue with cabbage and greens. Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but kale is not without problems for some, I’m afraid.
