That’s why we’ve reimagined ready-to-eat food to create a “food safe zone.” With Urban Remedy, you can be sure that everything heals and nothing harms, and know that your choice of eating certified organic supports your wellbeing and the earth’s. Because we understand that what you don’t eat is just as important as what you do our food is free of dairy, gluten, corn syrup, white sugar, white flour, and unhealthy oils. Every colorful offering we create has the goal of improving health. We strive to make each offering low glycemic, anti-inflammatory, using the cleanest ingredients on the planet for food that truly nourishes every cell in your body. 

As a practitioner of Chinese and functional medicine, I look at balancing the body for optimal health and wellness. Through an understanding of the energy and balance in the body, the healing properties of potent natural ingredients, and using a healthy diet as a healing tool to prevent and treat disease we can stimulate energetic movement and restore balance in the body and support the immune system. Our amazing bodies have the innate ability to heal. Utilizing this knowledge we have a better chance of fighting off illness, even in the midst of an intense cold and flu season.

In Chinese medicine we have known for centuries that ordinary foods contain powerful healing properties. Each food is characterized by its own unique flavor, energies and actions.  Diet therapy is a powerful tool you can incorporate into your wellness program. I created Barry’s bundles to be chock full of the mighty healing benefits of eating the rainbow. The Eastern system of medicine teaches that, in order to achieve optimal health, you must treat mind, body, and spirit equally. That is to say, you can eat a healthy diet, but if you are living in emotional turmoil or heavy stress, your body will suffer. Likewise, you can meditate and do yoga every day to control your stress, but if you eat a solid diet of junk food, you’ll still be out of balance

Tips to stay healthy and balanced

-Start your day with warm lemon water. It contains natural vitamin C and this mix helps to detoxify and support the liver, our master detoxification organ. 

– Getting a sound night’s sleep is one of the best ways we can improve our immunity and defend against viruses and disease as sleep is a natural immune booster.

-Practice stress reducing techniques like mediation, yoga, forest bathing, or acupuncture to bring the nervous system back into a state of balance. 

-Proper hygiene. Wash hands frequently with soap and water at least 20 seconds. Practice not touching your face, give a wave hello instead of a handshake/hug.

-Use warming spices to promote sweating. The early stages of a cold works the best to sweat out the illness through the pores before it moves deeper into the body. Teas, soups or foods like green onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, Sichuan pepper, or jalapeno are good choices. 

Move your body. Exercise boosts the immune system. It doesn’t have tone vigorous you can walk 30 minutes or grab a yoga class.
